Thread: DCS Updates

    Correct.

I still find the DCS World a little stale and lifeless much as I love the scenery and jets.

That page is looking better every day. Is there a way to add lines for reference as well?

Shadow says it's possible but he is always wrong.

i wonder if we will be able to customize our threat circles etc before flight like in the BMS UI/Mission Planner...love the color though in the new SA page coming.

  7. #27
Depends on if the Lot 20 Hornet came with it in the first place. Not all planes from that era had it, including the A-10C that we have in DCS, with its suite 3 software.

This the answer you're looking for Mower?

A new datalink / SA page element was added today to support for SAM threat zones. These are determined before hand and are static indications based on Mission Editor settings. If the unit is hidden it will not appear on the SA display, if it is not hidden, it will display. Just like the real system, this is NOT a dynamic indication based on RWR or any sensors. It simply alerts the pilot of a reported SAM threat that was entered in the mission file before they even took off.

I don't think that's exactly what he was asking. Knowing how the mission editor works now, it sounds like it is just going to be that if the mission designer didn't hide the radar unit then it will be visible in the SA page.

I don't know how the guys making the big multiplayer missions do it, but I usually hide the units when I make them. Honestly it's just easier when you're in the editor without the threat rooms clogging up the screen. That and depending on visibility settings on the F10 map, I don't want people knowing where the units are.

What that doesn't answer is if I set the F10 options to friends only if you'll be able to see it in the SA page. I'm interested in that.

It would nice to have it as it was in BMS. Obviously you have an Intel who is telling you the known threats and there are some which are not discovered or moving, relocating. With that the situation is quite fluid and even though you prepare with your best knowledge before mission you still can get surprises. Besides that it looks like now that SA page will give you everything what is known, but you certainly don’t want them all on your small 5” displays...
These were not even in BMS but would come handy if you could adjust their position in cockpit if you get an update, and also create new threat circles for pop ups.

    Hey everyone,

As mentioned in earlier posts, we are at work on a detailed Aircraft Settings capability through the Options, F/A-18C, Special Tab. This consists of two primary elements: Aircraft Systems and Mission Card. Both will allow you to pre-configure the Hornet before flight in both single and multiplayer. As such, you would be able to setup your own aircraft defaults.

Aircraft Systems include all functions that are NOT specific to mission (.miz) file or Mission Computer settings. This includes such items as lights, bingo fuel, various cockpit switches, altimeter, etc. In this way, you can have your aircraft setup just that way YOU want it.

The Mission Card allows you to set up software options for all missions that includes such items as radar settings, countermeasures, AG weapon programs, and navigation settings.

The third element of mission configuration MUST apply directly to the specific mission file or there will conflict between Aircraft Settings and the mission file… these are the waypoint settings. As always, a mission is created with a set of waypoints and properties when the mission is created by the mission designer. For the Hornet though, we are greatly adapting this to account for a much more realistic Hornet waypoint system that accounts for up to 60 waypoints in the database, of which waypoints can be assigned properties of sequence 1, sequence 2, sequence 3, initial point, A/A waypoint, Pre-Planned (PP), or Pre-Briefed (PB). In the Mission Planner, the player would be able to then adjust these if desired on a per-mission basis. We are also looking to making the Mission Planner available in multiplayer.

This will also include a new waypoint user interface that we’ll share a bit later once it is more solid.

This is all deep in development and very much subject to change. We have no release time frame in mind yet… it will be released to an Open Beta once we feel it’s ready.

    Game changer?

  13. #33
It will surely help. Things are beginning to point towards dynamic features (In my limited and very humble opinion based on DCS forum browsing). A few of us were discussing on here ways of diving in the files to setup defaults (particularly counter measures) and now it seems it will be an in-game feature which is organized and not requiring constant updating with game updates. I'm happy about it!

Dedicated server released too. Means we can set up web controls on our server making easier for people to use. Also, we can setup a European server since we don’t need 3d.

"MP. Multiple clients will not spawn in the same location on the CVN-74 deck."

    That's good news

Shadow mentioned the flight model bug with the wind. Some of my friends tested that without wind, it works fine. You might have to do a small roll trim or counter move on the stick at the beginning but then it disappears. Just my 2c if anybody prefers to use the new features till they introduce a hotfix.

Yeah, I flew this morning and didn’t have the issue very much. Very little roll either way. Don’t recall what the wind speed was tho. Jet trimmed right up.
